Kansas Association of Community Colleges presidents pause for a group photo after signing the MOU for nursing transfer students with Fort Hays State University.
Seward County Community College nursing graduates have an even more direct path to a bachelor’s degree thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed by Fort Hays State University and Kansas Association of Community College members in Topeka this week. The MOU spells out details for guaranteed admission to FHSU’s Bachelor of Science in nursing program.
“One of the best aspects of this agreement is the priority consideration status our nursing graduates can now receive,” said SCCC President Brad Bennett. “All the usual requirements are still in place, but it’s that little extra boost that benefits Kansas community college graduates.”
The guaranteed admission pathway specified in the MOU also includes measures to strengthen the connection between Kansas community colleges and FHSU. Support services like advising, mentoring, and professional development opportunities are encouraged.
“We love seeing our students develop, graduate, and go even farther in their careers,” said Bennett. “This opens up even more options.”
