National Beef Packing gives $15,000 donation to SCCC Allied Health

The Seward County Community College Foundation received a generous gift before the Christmas holiday: a donation of $15,000 from National Beef Packing Co., to support Allied Health programs.

“We’re really big believers in SCCC, and we want to do what we can to help the college out,” said Dean Aragon, National Beef Purchasing Manager. With more than 3,000 employees, National Beef feels a strong connection to the college.

“A lot of our employees and their kids go to Seward, and it’s a big part of the quality of life for the entire community,” Aragon said. “We’re constantly talking about quality of life for our employees, so this is also an investment in retention.”

Quality health care is key to satisfied employees, which prompted NBP’s designation of the $15,000 for Allied Health programs at SCCC. Nursing students recently administered flu shots to NBP employees, Aragon said, “and we know that the hospitals and clinics in the area are usually staffed with the college’s graduates.”

President Brad Bennett acknowledged the importance of cultivating healthy relationships with community stakeholders like National Beef.

“This is a partnership that means so much to us,” he said. “We are grateful for their donation, and we equally value the impact of having their support. I’ve always said one of the things that makes Seward stand out from peer institutions is the way this community supports the Saints. National Beef is a great example.”
