Sales never stop at Saints Bookstore

LIBERAL, KAN. (March 20, 2020) — As Seward County Community College students and campus employees scramble to adjust to the world of higher education amid health concerns, something remains reassuringly reliable. The Saints Bookstore is open for business as usual.

“We thought it wise to give our customers a current update on store operations amid the campus transition to online learning for the remainder of the semester,” Saints Bookstore Marketing/Merchandising Associate Madelyn Sander posted in a message to SCCC team members. “As of now, our store is open regular hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m.  -4:45 p.m. If operation hours change in the coming days, we will keep you informed.”

Despite the community-wide social distancing efforts, bookstore employees have plenty to do as they support SCCC instructors and students. Key adjustments:

The rental deadline of May 8th for spring textbook rentals has been extended. SPRING TEXTBOOKS NOW DUE:  MAY 22ND

“This extension is to allow for students who want to keep their books and move home to have time to mail us their books after finals,” Sander wrote. “If your instructor has indicated that you do not need the book for the online learning transition, or you are unable to take your books home with you/unable to return your books once you’re home, and would like to drop them off now, we are available.”

For those avoiding face-to-face business interactions — or who just want the convenience— drop boxes have been set up in the dorms and outside of the store.

“With the store still open for operation, students can drop the books off directly to us as well,” Sander noted. “If you dropped off your books via drop box and would like to check to see that your account is cleared, feel free to contact us.”

Graduation regalia pivot: Commemorative tassels available

With the in-person graduation ceremony cancelled, the Saints Bookstore has halted the sale of full regalia.

“However, if you would like to buy a commemorative tassel with the 2020 graduation year, we have made that available both in store and online @ saintsbookstore.com under the graduation section in ‘General Merchandise,’” Sander wrote.

Tassels retail at $6.39 before tax. If graduates just want to order a tassel as the total online order, shipping will be adjusted to just $2.99 at processing, Sander noted.

Online learning obstacles? Need a laptop?

The Saints Bookstore would like to help your transition to online go as smoothly as possible.

“For students that may still need a laptop for at home learning, we have Dell Chromebook 11 models with a limited 2 year warranty for sale for just $234.99,” Sander said. “This deal is available in store and on our website.” Cases are available in store and can be ordered over the phone if needed.

Sales never sleep … additional deals available in store and online

Students are not the only people who have an “extra long” spring break, Sander pointed out. “Our Spring Break Sale was extended through Friday, March 20, getting customers 40% OFF all winter clearance items. All of our in store sales are available on the web as well.”

During March, all basketball insignia is 30% OFF. More deals will surface in the coming weeks, she promised.

“Thank you to our valued customers for continuing to support us,” said Sander. “We will continue to do our best to keep you safe and strive to fulfil all your needs.”
