LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College has received a donation from French Construction for the new Student Health Center.
The company donated $10,000 towards the renovation of the old student dorms into the student health facility.
“We appreciate the generous donation and support from French Construction,” said SCCC President Brad Bennett. “We’ve worked on various projects with them. It’s important for us to continue to partner with local businesses and work with the community.”
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last month with the renovation of the facility beginning days after. The new Student Health Center will house both mental health services and a health clinic.
“We’re designating half this building for our mental health counselor and our on-site student health clinic,” said Bennett. “Both care providers have been offering no-cost services to our students for nearly a year, and this location is going to make a huge difference in how that care is accessed.”
The other half of the building will be transformed into an after-hours space for dorm residents with a full kitchen, movie-viewing space and study areas.
