Community gifts break record at SCCC Foundation Giving Day 2024

Contributing $43,000 in just 24 hours, friends and supporters of Seward County Community College outdid themselves during the 2024 Giving Day, said event organizer Sarah Thompson.

“I never stop feeling amazed about the generosity of this community,” said Thompson, SCCC Associate Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement. “It is what makes SCCC such a special place.”

During the Giving Day event, donors may designate where and how the funds they contribute are used. This year, Thompson provided extra context for Giving Day with a Groundbreaking Ceremony at the site for the future Student Health Center. SCCC is currently renovating the “old dorm” building immediately adjacent to the Student Living Center in order to locate mental health and student health clinics at the center of campus.

“The renovation is going to provide much-needed services to our students, and we all know that access to these basic parts of health and self-care are critical to success,” said SCCC Executive Director of Athletic Training, Fitness & Student Health Services Liz Hill.
