Financial Aid office offers April 24 help session for students, parents

Sign up now for assistance to complete aid, scholarship forms

LIBERAL, Kan.  — Students who would like expert help filling out financial aid forms and applications are in luck: the Seward County Community College Financial Aid office will host a special session designed to simplify the process. Students and their parents may sign up for individual sessions the afternoon of April 24, following the conclusion of the All Saints Day student enrollment and orientation event sponsored by the SCCC Admisrentssions department.

“We want to make things easy for families who are looking at all the forms and asking, ‘Where do I start?’” said SCCC Financial Aid Director Amy Bridenstine. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, often referred to as FAFSA, is the starting point that often confounds applicants. “With a little patience, it’s not so bad, and we are happy to help,” Bridenstine said.

Attendees will also receive help completing the new online scholarship application for SCCC aid. Bridenstine’s office recently made the transition to all-electronic applications, which offers the advantage of matching students with opportunities that might have gone unnoticed.

“We’re really excited about how the online applications streamline the process and improve it,” Bridenstine said, “and we know that any change requires adjustment, so we’re ready to walk anyone through it step by step.”

Participants must call or email to reserve a time slot due to limited seating capacity and COVID restrictions. Available times are 11 a.m. to noon, or 12-1 p.m., April 24, in rooms AA1010 and AA113 in the Hobble Academic Building on the SCCC campus.

To reserve a spot, call or email: 620-417-1110 or financialaid@sccc.edu.
