As you’ve probably heard, there’s a partial federal government shutdown. That means certain federal agencies have been closed because there’s no money to pay for their services. What kind of impact does it have on Seward County Community College? Minimal. The Department of Education is one of four departments still operational because of its funding schedule.
According to Donna Fisher, director of financial aid at SCCC, it should be business as usual.
“Unless I hear otherwise, I expect all federal financial aid (for the Spring semester) to be disbursed as scheduled,” Fisher said, adding that students can still apply for financial aid for the 2018-19 academic year until the end of June. Students are also encouraged to get a head start and apply for financial aid for the upcoming 2019-20 academic year.
